The Biggest Oak Tree in Oklahoma, Tamaha School
"This is the big oak tree my brother Ray and I used to play marbles under. All the kids would gather around and we would play marbles. I remember being the Marble Champion and getting into to so much trouble! Mr. Frazier was the Coach, Principal and Teacher. One day, He caught us playing marbles(we were just kids, we didn't know it was gambling) and Mr. Frazier was going to teach me a lesson. He borrowed some marbles, and I beat him too! Well, he ended up teaching me a lesson. He made me sweep the storm cellar!" Leamon Roy McCaslin |

"I remember when this Gym was first built." You were not allowed to wear shoes on the floor." Laverne McCaslin-Bailey "We were all so proud of our new gym. People would come from all around to play basketball here. This was a wonderful gym We had alot of fun here. It is a shame it has fallen into such disrepair." Roy McCaslin |
Tamaha School Gymnasium, Tamaha Oklahoma
As I slowly walked into the darked gym, my eyes adjusted to the light. I was over come with emotion. How many games were won and lost here? How many dreams came true? How many hearts broken? How many lives were touched and changed forever in this place? I watched in awe as my father now in his late 50's and his sister smiled and giggled like the school children they once were some 49 years ago. I listened attentively to the stories of their past and the gym and school seemed to come alive again. if only for a moment. |

I stood in amazement as my 60 year old Uncle got out of the car and ran to the flying jenny It was magical to see my Aunt and Uncle swinging around on their old play ground. Giggling and recalling their childhood. No arthritis, No Asthma or Heart problems. For a moment, they were young again! |
