A Word from the Author
Creating the McCaslin Genealogy website and writing the book,"MacCauslands of the Emerald Isle" have been an amazing experience.

They have taken me on a wonderful search and discovery. I have met many "new" family members. I have walked on the soil our ancestors lived, farmed and died on. I have learned a great deal about our people, our traditions, and our Irish spirit. Most importantly, I have learned the importance of being proud of who you are and where you come from.

It has been over 2 1/2 years now and I have come a long way from not knowing how to use a computer, to learning how to use it and finally to completing this Website and Book. This all started as a venue to unite father and daughter. It has become more than I ever imagined. I have gained a sense of pride in myself and realization that hard work and determination brings imense joy and satisfaction. I would like to thank James, Corey and Jennifer for their support.

The website and book, are collections of many peoples works. I thank you all for providing pictures, information and biographies. It was through your dedication and your help, that we are able to preserve our heritage for generations of McCaslins to come.

By studying our family, we can learn more than just names and dates. We can learn important genetic information. For example, heart disease, diabetes, degenerative eye disease, cancer and depression run in our family. This information enables us to make life style changes or seek medical testing.

Our McCaslin ancestors were more than just faces in pictures and names on documents. When you look in the mirror, they look back at you. Visible in those famous McCaslin ears and expressions. They are as much a part of us today, as they were 100 years ago. They hold the key, to who we are and what it means to be a McCaslin.

I am honored to bring this website and soon, book to you. I am very proud of these bodies of work and equally proud to be in this family with you.

Life is a journey. Like yours, mine too has had its share of good and bad. Through it all, we find strength to accept life's challenges and do the best we can. I would like to thank Ramona for helping me believe in myself and reach for the stars. Dreams really do come true!

Who you are, is not measured by the size of house you live in, kind of car you drive, number on the scale, how much or how little is in your bank account. Who you are, as a person, is measured by how you are remembered.

Good or bad, we all will be remembered. It is vital we keep the memories of our McCaslin ancestors alive for future generations.

Hench the Gailec phrase:"Cuimhnich air na daoine O'n d' thainig thu"~remember the men from whom you are sprung.

May God Bless you all...

My Favorite Picture
This is a picture of my Dad holding my little brother Mike. I am tapping Dad on the shoulder. I just love this picture. I was 1 1/2 and Mike a newborn.

Thanks for visiting. Hope to see you soon.
